Dr Gary Benson graduated from Queens University Belfast in 1999. His postgraduate training took him to Altnagelvin, Causeway and Belvoir Park Hospital before taking up specialty training in Haematology in 2003 at the Belfast City hospital. He took up post in Belfast as the Clinical Director of the N Ireland Haemophilia Centre where subspecialty clinics in female carriers, high-risk obstetric haematology as well as venous thrombosis were established.
During the last five years, he has expanded the team to include an associate specialist, physiotherapy specialist and a data manager. His specialist interests remain massive transfusion, obstetric haematology as well as the congenital bleeding disorders.
